M.Phil./MS/PhD Admission Test – 2021

General Instructions for all students

1. The entry tests for the admission in M.Phil./MS/PhD at the Centre of Excellence in Solid State Physics, will be held at Punjab University Examination Centre, located at Wahdat Road, Lahore on Friday, October 08, 2021.     
2. The test will be MCQs based 
3. All the students are required to follow complete SOPs in COVID conditions. No student will be allowed to enter the examination halls without masks
4. Valid proof of vaccination (at least one dose) will be enquired at the entrance gates

Instructions for applicants for admission in M.Phil. Solid State Physics, MS Nanotechnology and PhD Solid State Physics on the basis of BS Physics/equivalent

1. There will be a single entry test for admission to M.Phil. Solid State Physics, MS Nanotechnology and  PhD Solid State Physics on the basis of BS Physics/equivalent
2. Passing marks for admission to M.Phil./MS are 50% and for admission to PhD are 70%
3. Reporting time:      9.00 am
4. Test Start Time:    9.30 am
5. Syllabus for test
   1. Solid State Physics        40%
   2. General Physics        60%
6. General Physics includes: Classical and Quantum Mechanics, Semiconducting Physics, Waves and Oscillation, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Basic and Advanced Electronics 

Instructions for applicants for admission in M.Phil. Microelectronic Engineering and Semiconducting Physics (MESP)

1. Passing marks for admission to M.Phil. (MESP) are 50% 
2. Reporting time:      2.30 pm
3. Test Start Time:    3.00 pm
4. Syllabus for test
   1. Basic and advanced electronics        60%
   2. General Physics                40%
5. General Physics includes: Classical and Quantum Mechanics, Semiconducting Physics, Waves and Oscillation, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Basic and Advanced Electronics

1. Passing marks for admission to PhD are 70%

   1. Solid State Physics        70%
   2. General Physics        30%
5. Solid State Physics includes: Thin Film Technology, Semiconducting Theory, Lattice Dynamics, X-Ray Diffraction, Defects in Solids, Optical Properties of Solids, Magnetism in Condensed Matter 
6. General Physics includes: Classical and Quantum Mechanics, Semiconducting Physics, Waves and Oscillation, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics, Heat and Thermodynamics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Basic and Advanced Electronics
