Associate Professor

Dr. Muhammad Akram Raza is a Tenured Associate Professor at the Center of Excellence in Solid State Physics, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He earned his Ph.D. in 2012 from the Physics of Interfaces and Nanomaterials (PIN) Group, University of Twente, The Netherlands, with a dissertation titled “Colloidal Routes to Functional Substrates: From Selective Metallization to Superhydrophobicity.” He completed his M.Phil. in Physics from the University of the Punjab in 2004. Dr. Raza has over 12 years of postdoctoral research and teaching experience. His academic record includes 56 publications (36 in ISI Impact Factor journals), a cumulative impact factor of 96.8, over 1,850 citations, an h-index of 17, and an i10-index of 24 (Google Scholar). He has successfully completed four research projects worth PKR 8.48 million, supervised 57 M.Phil./MS students, and currently mentors three Ph.D. candidates. He has presented his work at 31 national and international conferences across the USA, Netherlands, Czech Republic, China, South Korea, and Pakistan, and delivered four invited talks. Dr. Raza’s research expertise spans nanomaterials synthesis and characterization, with hands-on experience in techniques such as SEM, TEM, AFM, FTIR, XPS, XRD, Ellipsometry, UV–Vis Spectrophotometry, and contact angle analysis. His current research interests include: 1) Green synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles, 2) In vitro and in vivo antimicrobial studies, 3) Wetting physics and superhydrophobic coatings for self-cleaning and biomedical applications, 4) Nanopatterning, selective metallization, and self-assembly, 5) Metallic nanoparticles and thin-film–based heterostructures for enhanced gas sensing applications.
